Is it possible that Flowmaster is louder than straights
I was set on gettting straight duals after the cat without any mufflers until I read some various posts implying that 40 series Flowmasters may be louder than straights. I have straights now on my on my old 91 351 V-8 and it isn't that loud unless you hammer it or crank above 3K RPM. Now it almost seems like that if I put on a 40 series Flowmaster that it might be louder...I'm looking for the loudest thing possible since GA rednecks have no inspections and it seems like the louder the better...Any one with both that can tell me if the Flowmaster is better for loudness or go straights...Straights are cheap 140.00 for duals with 18" chrome tips 3" diameter out the back or sides customer choice. About 180 -200 for the flowmaster. I could care less about interior noise...that's what the tape and 6 disc Cd is for hehe

Just before I installed my 50-series, I drove around the block with no muffler. After I installed the muffler, it was, of course, much quieter. I can't imagine that a 40-series would be louder than no muffler. Maybe a different sound, but louder?!? Give Flowmaster a call.
