TRANS SHIFTING

When my truck is cold 55 or less the truck has a hard time shifting from 2nd into 3rd..the RPMS get up between 4500 and 6 grand before it shifts and when it does its a hard shift. I have the 4.6 automatic and it only does it when its cold. When its hot outside I have no problems at all. Any one know of any solutions or if it is a Ford problem in all of them?

I have the same problem on my 98 4.6. Don't know any solutions. I meant to get it to the dealer during cold weather so they couldn't deny the problem but I didn't make it. I'll have to wait until this fall. It's been 100 here this week and it shifts fine at that temp.
