Truck is ready for exhaust

Alright, so I have a 1998 std. cab short bed F-150 with the 4.6, and I've finally decided that the stock exhaust needs to go. I've been looking at cat-backs, but I haven't found anything that impressed me enough to spend $400-$600 on it. I'm not expecting big power gains or anything from my exhaust. I just want something that looks good and sounds good without making my wallet scream out in pain. I've considered cutting out my muffler and just having a section of pipe welded in. How would that sound? Would there be any sort of in-cab drone or anything? I drive this truck everywhere, so I want the in-cab noise to be limited to when I'm on the loud pedal. Can anyone help me out at all?

Go to a local muffler shop and tell them what you just posted. You will get what you want for less than $350.

I got a Flowmaster 40 series delta flow and there is little noise outside and a deep agressive sound outside.

Hi there! If you are looking for something quiet then i highly recomend Magnaflow mufflers. Straight pipe will be nasty loud and Flowmasters tend to drone on the highway. Magnaflow sounds really good on our trucks too. Hope this helps.
