I have a 1997 F150 5.4 and as far as exhaust goes i have ture dual straigh pipes, no converters, and no mufflers. Needless to say it is loud.... the way i like it. But, it seems to only be loud when i take off or have it 2500 rpm or more. Im wanting to make it to where my truck is loud all the time even wen coasting. Also I have heard trucks that pop alot when they let of the accelorator which i think sounds really good. Is there any way I can make my truck sound like that?

 

if you still have 2.5" pipe all the way back that's probably why.
if you ran smaller pipe it would make it louder and pop more.or you could put some headers on it,that might help.i have straight pipes on mine and it does the same thing,but i have to be able to keep mine quiet when i need to.a friend of mine has a 96 1 ton with a 460 and straight dual 2" all the way back,and its loud as hell and pops all the time,but i don't know how a 5.4 would react to 2".seems to me that if a 460 can run it fine a 5.4 should be able to,but i don't know.

 

hey i was wondering if any of you two guys had a sound clip of your truck w/ out cats . i have straights w/ no muffler, but am very curious to what it would sound like if the cats were off. i know someone that could do it for me. to way fast witey, here in tennessee they will checking emissions again after your tag expires so better be puttin them back on or do somethin to trick the feds.

 

i just passed emissions right after i did it.no federally mandated emission controls can stop me,mwahahahaha
