Question Gibson?? Flowmaster?? Help!!

I’ve got a 2000 F-150 5.4L, and I am currently looking into a couple of different exhaust systems. One is the Gibson Swept Side system, which claims to increase HP by 22 and torque by 19. Another one is the Flowmaster Force II (I haven’t been able to figure out what the power gains are for it, though). What does anybody think about these? Are they any good? $300 - $350 is the most I can spend. My main goal is to gain a good amount of horsepower and torque, and the looks and sound are not real important to me. I like the look of dual exhaust, and would really like the sound, but if the Gibson Swept Side system will provide me with more power, then I’d rather go with that. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Well, I don't know about that, but it is better then the stock setup at any rate......... It'll remain pretty quiet for the most part, at least until one of the baffles in the muffler decides to RATTLE!! Mine did after about 2 years........ I replaced just the muffler with a Flo-Pro and it seems to be a much better setup now. I did keep the Gibson 3" tail pipe however....

Stick with a SI/SO setup and 3" tail pipe and you should get some.... I don't have any acutal numbers to pass along, but when I had the Gibson "garbage can" muffer in place and towing my trailer, there were some hills on I-5 that would cause me to downshift to maintain a given speed. When I took the same hills, going the same speed with the Flo-Pro, I was able to maintain speed and stay in third gear!

I never did tow with the stock setup, so can't really compare, but with the stock muffler and stock 235/70/16 tires, I could barely get a scratch out of the tires (they were even worn out!). I later got some 265/75/16 tires and the Gibson setup and it would at least get a little 'squeek' out of the tires, so that's why I say the Gibson was at least better then stock......

I used to praise the Gibson, but since it rattled on me and I did find out that my Flo-Pro provided even more low end grunt then it did, now I'm on the Flo-Pro grandstand!! Check 'em out.... I've got the MX 502....

I have the gibson dual rear exit and it's very quiet, almost quietier than stock. Magnaflow has the best HP throughout the entire RPM range than anybody else, just search for that here or call Mike Troyer and he'll fill you in. Hope this helps.
