Exclamation Clicking Noise with Engine running

2001 SC 4.6 Engine 45000 Miles - Recently I have been hearing a click noise from front engine area (drivers side) when motor is running. The Pre-Cat - After the engine warms up 30 - 45 minutes go away until cool down again.

The noise almost sounds like a relay clicking, or the exhaust making a cracking sound. It can be heard when first started up and sitting, as well as driving. At first I thought it was from the suspension but began hearing it at a stop. Anyone have ideas regarding this problem I would appreicate the help. Thanks - Vern

have the exhaust manifold studs checked. They are well known for breaking on the 4.6 & 5.4 engines. This is most likely your ticking noise

You might check your PVC valve; there's 1 in each valve cover. Aftermarket PVCs sometimes do that. If that's not it, you might move this post over to the Engines forum; I'm sure someone over there will help you.
