exhaust recommendations for 97 4.6
exhaust recommendations for 97 4.6
I am wanting to upgrade my exhaust on my 1997 F-150 4.6L V8 4x4 XLT Supercab. I just want a single exhaust, not duals and nothing too loud. Just a little deeper, slightly louder tone that will increase torgue and maybe gas mileage. I tow a bass boat and I would like this muffler to help with towing, if possible. Any recommendations? I can't spend more than around 150. Should I leave the exhaust exit where it is now (in front of passenger rear wheel) or have it rerouted to behind the wheel? What kind of ball-park prices? Thanks for any and all suggestions.
A Flowmaster 40 series Delta will provide you with a deeper, louder tone...I would not hold my breath waiting for noticeable differences in gas mileage or horsepower though. You should be able to pick one up for less than $75...if you cut out your old muffler and clamp on the Flowmaster. If not you should still be able to buy one on the internet or racing shop and have a shop weld in the new one for a reasonable fee.
money is tight here too....
and there is another option. All the systems I looked at were out of my price range and mainly because I wanted to get a 1715 from Troyer Performance.
Soooo, before I got the 1715, I had the stock muffler cut off and a straight pipe welded in for $37.00. Loud when it needs to be but quiet in the cab and at idle. VERY (!) happy with the results. Someday...Magnaflow cat back will go on, but not before the FTVB, ignition package, front O2 sensors, Air force One Intake, elec fans.
Just my humble opinon
