O2 sensors?
O2 sensors?
All the local shops here in J-ville, FL say they wont install true duals because it screws up the sensors. Is this the case or are these red-neck exhaust fabricators also fabricating the o2 issue?
As long as the O2 sensors are still in the exhaust its fine. If its in the catylitic converter either (1)leave the cat on, (2) weld a bung in one of the pipes(orpipes depending how many O2 sensors there are), or (3) get some O2 Simulators.
So, just to get this straight... The increased flow past the sensors wont cause the computer to think something is up? As long as you leave them in all is well? I tried to tell these guys that but I got the whole, "we've done a million of these son, we know what we're talkin' about."
It's very common for exhaust shops to say this because they have codes thrown on "certain" vehicles with "certain" sensor and cat setups. Your factory setup has all of the sensors and cats BEFORE where you cut them off for duals. It's very easy to put duals on because each side of your engine already has it's own pipe, sensors, and cat setup. You just cut each side off in the correct place behind all of this and add your dual setup from there back. It's not the flow issue; you get increased flow from single systems which are also installed behind all of the stuff that I mentioned.
What Max said, all the important stuff(cats, O2's) are infront of where the duals are welded on. That is if you have a 97+ truck. Older ones have the cat (the the 02 sensore) and muffler on the single pipe after the y pipe.
Flow isnt an issue because on all these new vehicles its all computer so it will adjust itself.
And I would try to find a new exhasut shop or have them put it on a lift and explain it to them.
