Magnaflow X-pipe on 97 4.6

Hi all,

I am going to run true duals on my truck and was wondering if i should go with the x-pipe with the 2.5in core or the 3in core. Whats the differences between the two performance wise, they are both the same price so would the 3in be better?

Thanks
John

i beleieve the pipes going out of the cats is 2 1/2"- i'd go 2 1/2" x pipe then drop down to 2 1/4" pipe to at least retain if not keep your torque- these heavy trucks need tq to get them moving- and being trual duals even tyhough dropping down to 2 1/4" will keep the velocity up -i doubt you'll be making more power to justify trual duals- [supercharger]- my .02$ phil

Go with the 2 1/2 inch one.

And since you are getting an X pipe you shouldnt need to go down to 2 1/4 after it. Openclasspro is right that 2 1/4 is right for that engine, but thats more for true duals with no X pipe. Since an X pipe will be alittle smaller where they cross over, that should be enough for backpressure, then the 2 1/2 will be better for gas milage and top end.

If gas milage and higher end power isnt an issue, and torpue is I probably would go with the 2 1/4 though.

I have true duals, no H or X pipe or anything, and they are 2 1/2 and i didnt seem to lose any bottome end
