Posted this at the Pre-'97 model page - but no response yet - so I figured I'd try here.

Just got my true duals (no cats - with tips) yesterday and it wasnt exactly what I was looking for - was lookin for someway to quiet it down to a reasonable level (not getting picked up level)and still have a nice, loud, good sounding pickup. Was thinkin about some decent sized glasspacks which would give me some decent downshifting sound ( I have a 5-speed). Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Well, I dont know how much of a help I can be. But a glasspack is almost the same thing as straight pipe. You just wont have as much pop in the exhaust with the glasspack as you do with the straight pipes. My friend has true duals with glasspacks on his 69 El Camino with a 350. Loud as crap..sounds like a top fuel dragster. But I like it. Personally, I am a huge fan of glasspacks, the longer the glasspack, the more it will tone it down..but if u got a v8..with true duals and glasspacks..your not gonna tone it down alot..its gonna be loud. Glasspacks are a good choice, but theirs nothing like flowmasters on a v8

 

screw flowmasters, glasspacks rule. Ive got a catback with no mufflers. Cant wait till i get hi flos

 

Got the packs on today - put some 27" ers on. Sounds real nice. This got hurried up a little (a whole bunch) after I got followed by 2 highway patrol officers today on my way home. Quieted it down quite a bit and I still have plenty of low end rumble.

 

I've got 2" straightpipes behind the cats with 2 3/4" tips. She is LOUD. It sounds like no cats and 12" glasspacks. The good thing though is that if you see a cop just let off the gas, is sounds just like stock. Also it is reasonably quiet during overdrive. Rock on fella

 

My friend has duals with Raven glass packs and it sounds incredible. Best sounding exhuast on a truck i have ever heard. Flowmasters dont even compair, i know because i have flows on mine and it doesnt sound as sweet as the Ravens.
