Exhaust for 2004 Lariat Supercrew

I just installed an Airaid Intake on my 04 Lariat 5.4 Supercrew. I want to do a cat-back system and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I do not want it to be so loud that I have to blast the radio but I do want a deep rumble on exceleration. Also what are your thoughts on Stainless vs Aluminized ? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there.

I have an '02 5.4 Lariat Screw and after 32k miles I'm just getting the 50 series installed today. I should pick it up in a few hours so I'll post back. I would suggest you enjoy the Airaid sound for a bit then go with the flowmaster 50. You'll get a lot of opinions here...all valid. My research told me that the 40 would be too loud including significant drone. The 50 sounds plenty loud. I'll get back to you though.

I have been doing alot of research today and I am almost leaning towards going with the Flowmaster Super 40 muffler. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

You are in Houston and could probably get away with aluminized more than the snow belt.

I like Magnaflow in general. They are good quality systems that are not too loud and improve performance.

Well I just got back from the muffler shop and went with the Flowmaster Super 40. I like the way it is not to noisy in the cab. It is kind of hard to tell just how it sounds from the outside but I know it is loud enough to let people know you are there. I took it out on the freeway and the noise levels out around 55 with no drone. With the Airaid Intake and the Flowmaster I definatly notice more punch when I crank on it. So far I think I made the right decision but only time will tell

Enjoy. I had the 50 installed and it sounds great. I imagine the 40 sounds awesome.

I went with the magnaflow on my 03 5.4L. The sound levels are about what your looking for. she is fairly quiet on the highway at cruise speeds, but when you give her a little more gas she puts out a nice deep tone. SS systems are generally 100 bucks more so it depends on what you want to pay, and where you drive. Up here in the north east I went with the stainless on my truck. However on my 76 trans am which never sees rain or snow, the alumanized system has lasted 6 years with no rust.
