Dual Stacks

Hey Guys! I'm new on here and I want some opinions on the exhaust I'm getting. I'm going to put dual stacks on my truck(like a semi truck look) in black galvonized steel. The piping is going to be 2 1/2 inch and a casing around it. There will be no muffler. Is that going to be a problem with back pressure? I am leaving the cats on. Also my truck is a 94 ford f-150 long bed, I6. Is that exhaust going to be loud? considering that the I6 is a smoother sound than a V6. Opinions would be great! Thanks.

Jim

its gonna be loud and right in your ears. might make it run alittle rich without the back pressure for the o2 sensor and maybe a loss of torque. you can always add a muffler to the setup later if there is any problems or its to loud. running rich for long periods will destroy the cat though.

You may want to find out if your state will allow no muffler for inspections. Secondarily, 2.5" is too large. 2.25" will yield more power, but 2.5" would be fine up top for looks.

My Buddy did something similar using 4" chrome stacks (bought from a Mack dealer) on a F350 diesel and it worked out great however he did use some type of a muffler. I do not remeber off hand which muffler he used, but a diesel is a whole different animal than a I6. I have to say the truck looks mean and sounds sweet.

I really like the idea of stacks on a pickup. I've seen it done before on an old Dodge all done up. I think it looks sharp

I like the stacks that go through the bed better, something like this, i would get different stacks, ones that are like a foot higher and curve at the top, so it would like like a big turn down tip, if u know what i mean.

I think that the stacks outside the bed are better suited to a stepside type bed. Inside the bed will still need holes cut in the floor of the bed and of course it will eat up some of the cargo space back there. You'll have a few options for tips, straight, slash cut, turned back, or maybe even a pair of hats so you can watch them bob up & down when you goose the throttle.
