Yep, another 15609 question

I know this has been answered several times in the past, but I'm having a little bit of trouble searching the site for the answer.

I'm just looking to buy the muffler used in the 15609 package. Does anyone know the exact specs or part number? I'd order the whole system, but someone I know is giving me a good deal on pipes & install. Thanks in advance.

I believe it is the #14229 which I found for $84. I don't know about using custom bent pipes, though. Most shops I know of use crush bends and the $10/hr installer doesn't know the most about air flow. And they use aluminized pipe vs. stainless if that matters to you. If you want to save money, I would get #15038 prebent rather than letting shop do it. It's reasonably priced at $41 I found online.

I recommend replacing the OEM y-pipe with a 90degree mandrel bent elbow and a better designed y-pipe, regardless of your other choices.

Hmm...you bring up a few very good points that I overlooked while being a cheapskate . Thanks for the response.
