How long...

I was told by the service rep at my local ford dealer that I shouldnt put a aftermarket exhaust on my truck till it has around 5,000 miles on it . Said it was something about the computer and engine break in.

Any truth to this? I only got 14 miles on right now. I would hate to have to wait till 5000.

Welcome ! Most dealers are full of it; the response from them just proves it. Your computer adapts as you drive to many conditions and will adapt to your new exhaust just fine at any mileage. Your engine will break in just fine with either exhaust.

I'm with Max on this one. That break-in time is hogwash. They say the same stuff about oil.

I put a SI/DO cat-back system on my truck shortly after I got it, and I sure haven't seen any problems.
