Flowmaster True Duel Exhaust??????
Flowmaster True Duel Exhaust??????
I have been trying to decide on what type of mufflers to install on my 2000 F150 4x4. I really like the flowmaster sound but I have read several places that flowmaster can actually cost you horsepower. I plan on doing away with the stock y-pipe and installing an x-pipe, then from there to whatever mufflers I decide on, then duel rear 3 ½ inch tips. The actual pipe will stay the stock 2 ½ inch. So my question is, if I run true duel exhaust but use flowmaster (single in, single out) mufflers will I experience this loss of power that everyone seems to have when running the single in, duel out flowmaster system?
i had the same setup but without the x pipe. I felt an improvement in the upper rpm's but down low it sucked. Sound was great nice and loud.
I recently switched to a dual in/out magnaflow and gained alot of low end power back. The muffler has a built in x pipe already.

I got the 11385 magnaflow. Its a dual in/out with 2.25" openings. It has a X pipe built inside to it and is the shortest one available with an X pipe. I will be honest with you its alot quieter at IDLE then when I had flows. But i can live with it. But power is much more noticeable on the low end, mpg went up. Just need to get my highflow cats and bigger tips installed after the new year and inspection.
hey all. seen the chatter about mufflers. my friend has a flowmaster 40 and a magnaflow chrome tip. giving it to me at $20. has anyone used a 40 before? and if so, does anyone think that i will loose any power? as far as the noise, don't mind one bit. thanks all, have a good one!
