hood scoops or scoop
hood scoops or scoop
Is there anybody out there that can give me some information on hood scoop or scoops. I can not purchase a real hood that costs $700 to $1100 dollars.
Thank You
Thank You
There are a couple different things you can do. If you just want the LOOK of scoops you can get the non-functional scoops from just about any truck magazine or shop. I know i see them in stylin concepts and truckin.
If you want functional scoops then thats alot more work. You then have another couple choices to make. You've already mentioned that you dont want to buuy an entire hood so thats out. I opted for a hood from ABCexclusive. Its a real nice fiberglass hood that is very good quality. As for just getting a scoop to go onto your existing hood, I know you would have to cut out a hole in your hood to fit the scoop. I cant really help in that department. I know that it is alot of work to just add a functional scoop to a factory hood. My preferred choices would be:
1. New hood
2. Non-functional scoops
3. Functional scoops
Depending on how much work you want to do is what will make your decision. Here is a link for some scoops i found by doing a quick search http://www.ultimateautoaccessories.c...ood_Scoops.htm

Thank you for the information on hood scoops. The stick on scoops are the cheapest way to go, but after seeing your hood I think the extra money is worth it. Your hood is the best one that I have seen.
The website is www.abcexclusive.com. They have two different hoods with scoops on them...one like mine and another with a single scoop in the middle. All are Hand laid fiberglass. They are really light and very strong. When i took mine down to the body shop to get it installed the guys there said it was a very well made hood. I didnt use the adapter that comes with the kit because i have the K&N FIPK on. But it should work great with a stock airbox. I am currently fabricating a custom airbox for use with the FIPK to get the true ram air out of the hood. i hope you find something you like.
window washers
There are pre drilled holes for the washers or squirters. There is also some hardware to install the hoses from the pump included. It is so easy to install. The only thing i came across is that the fiberglass is a little thicker than your stock sheet metal so when yoou take off the washers youo may have to cut a bigger groove in them or somehow shave/sand the undersidce of the holes in order to get them to stay in the hole.
I used a razor blade and just "opened" up the groove in the squirter a little. Then i used some couple washers to take up some space between the brass hose fitting and the hose to somewhat lock them in place..its kinda hard to explain but really easy to figure out.
Just to customize it i drilled some holes in the bottom of the hood and put some strobes and LED lights behind the scoops. It was kinda tough to get them aimed right but they look great and it gives the hood that little extra custom look. (I wired the LED to my parking lamps and the strobes to a switch i installed inside the cab. I used green so it would be street legal)
