headers to tip
i am pretty sure i am going to try to thow on a pair of shortys.
while i am there..should i go a head and change the cats and the whole line?
right now i have a flowmaster (don't know the series) i like it..but i am considering duals..maybe Borla?
is an H and duals the best way to go?
i know a lot of folks in this group like the Magnaflows..are they pretty sweet or what?
like i said i do like the single Flowmaster i have..but i think i want a little more noise and rumble.

More flow will give you more power and sound. If you go with the shorty's... make sure to keep the individual tubes at or below 1 7/8" in diameter. From there on out, go 2.5" with Magnaflow components. Carsound cats, Flow-engineered X-pipe, not H-pipe. It'll give you a MUCH flatter torque curve. Running at 20 mph, I can stomp it and break the tires loose without much problem. Mileage went up, too. I have Pace Setter headers, and they're a bit cheaper than the JBA's, and I've had great results out of them! Only ran me about $205 with shipping. Just make sure you go with a straight through muffler. Flowmaster = No! They have great sound, but poor flow patterns.

hey Flea
wassup Red Hot?
dude you can break traction?
must be something wrong with my rig..
what do you have on that thing? its not just the headers?
hey, on your page (i haven't finished) but you have or at least had flowmaster...50
you didn't like it much? i think mine is a 40...came with the truck..its ok..BUT..BUT there is a new SUPER 40 just out..check out flowmaster site.
sounds good about the X pipe.
oh..do you think dual flowmasters still wouldn't be so great? seems they would breath a bit easier then.
where did you find the pace setters? ...are they pretty durable? any problems dropping them in?
thanks man

ok flea
now i get it just finished your website.
im alittle behind your mods it looks like...i almost bought 2- 16" fans yesterday..
but will soon and also the pulleys and chip.
looks good....oh are you sure you are only getting about 300 hp?
at stock i am 260 + FIPK (10) + exhaust (say 15) about 280- 285
after fans (10) pullys (10) porgrammer (20) and headers (15)
i should add +55
260 + 25 + 55= 340 so say at least 320-330
just a thought. if i am even close and i still cut down from 340 to 330
dave
hey did you throw on a different throttle body too? notice anything from the spacer?

I've got the older version of the 5.4L without the PI heads, so I started with 235 hp. I've reached the point where I think I'm getting a bit lean at HP peak (beginning to detect detonation at 4500-5000 rpms), so I know I'm in and around the 300-305 hp area (stock injectors will do 304 at 80% duty cycle).
Also, while mods do complement each other, you won't see max gains added on top of each other. So with all those, you'll probably be around 310 or so.
The headers, I got out of JCWhitney about 3 years ago. They're ceramic coated, too. Great deal. I didn't put them in because I didn't have air tools, and after 60K miles, I wasn't going to get them off without them. PITA to change gaskets on them, so buy the $10 Fel-Pro racing grade gaskets before you install them and use those instead of the ones that come with the headers.
If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask!

yo
which intake is that ? AIRFORCE 1?
from the photo it looks like it hooks right back up to the old air port that went into the box??? does it, or is it just real close?
hey does that filter sack breath ok? i thought they look sweet, but wonderd if they re-introduce a little less breathing.
well..im gonna finish your gallery
that other engine picture from the side...PRETTY...you did a nice color scheme under the hood. i like it...
i see you got the twin fans...i didn't realize they could go behind the radiator..they must be PULLING??
im also guessing you changed the MAFS and how about the ThrottleBoddy?

Yeah, I think you hit most of them. It's got about all the add-ons except for a blower or nitrous. It has 28 lb. Injectors, 90 mm MAF, Custom Porting on intake elbow, throttle body and match porting on all intake/exhaust gasket surfaces, JBA Headers and JBA Catback Exhaust, Dual Derale Fans, Underdrive Pulleys, Denso Plugs, Rear Sway Bar, 190 l/ph fuel pump. Custom Chip for the intake and fuel mods. Transgo shift kit (stage 2) It's an AirForce One and it's just very close to the hole in the fender. It has an OuterWears pre-filter sock on it. It is transparent to air flow doesn't stop any flow just the crap you don't want in there. Quite a few more in the cab and under the truck.
