Noise from Manifolds

Hello. Lately, I have been hearing a "spitting" type of noise (i dont know how to better explain it) coming from the engine area. Sounds like that of a cracked manifold. Has anyone else here had this problem? I'm guessing the obvious, in that i could find out by looking at the manifolds. Ill have to find time to do that I guess.

By the way, 2000 XLT

Does anyone know what this could be? I'm thinking a cracked manifold but I am not sure.

On my 99 I had, there was similar noise coming from my motor. It ended up being a bad manifold gasket. However, when they dug in a little deeper, that is when they found the broken bolts on the manifold!!!

Had a nice little bill!

I would check out the gasket

I just had mine fixed (see post below). Does this fix the problem or is it recurring? Is this another quirk of '99 Windsor engines or is it common among other years as well.

Peace, Dennis

Sounds like symptons of the 5.4 L Spark plug blowout ! People saw that they here a sound similar to an exhaust leak or lifter tapping. Might look into checking you spark plugs to see if they are tight !
