X-Pipe Question

I just bought a used exhuast system from a lightning to place on my 5.4L Sup. Crew. And I know I need to extend the pipe to fit the length, but I was thinking about using an X-Pipe for the length that I need.

Now ! my question is, will I be shooting myself in the foot by adding the X-Pipe for the added length that I need OR should I just use regular exhaust pipe to extend the length. From what I here is that an X-Pipe will provide most HP closer to the engine. If I add the x-pipe to this system, it will be in front of the muffler, far away from the engine !

Follow this link to a really good artical which deals with x-pipes and y-pipes. I'll grant it to you that the context is BMW, but it still applies.

To answer your question, since you have the DI/DO from a Lighting, cut out the factory Y-pipe, add a 90° to the drivers side, and put an X-Pipe as far forward as you can.

Let us all know how runs and sounds!!

on the fr500 ford mustang ... they ran the x pipe in the back of the car afte the muffler to get more power than having the x pipe up front. most guys just run it up front cause its easier to do
