header dual exhaust

Have any of you guys ever done a home-made dual exhaust system from the manifolds-back straight out the back? No cats, no mufflers? That's what I'd like to do but I don't know how hard it is. You'd have to by pre-bent tubes and all. Is it not worth it or just a pain in the butt? I know I'm a Chevy guy but this is the only forum that deals with excellent response on exhaust systems. I'd like to use all aluminized steel for longer life, like buying it through Jegs or Summit. I called the local muffler shop and they won't do it because it is illegal to run no catalytic converter! Who cares! They don't work anyway unless they're getting real hot and they rob power and fuel mileage. When inspection times comes, I'll just throw the stock system on and then come home and change it! Anyways, any response would be great!!!!!
