Need help with exhaust manifold question

Newbie mechanic...

I have an exhaust leak (according to my mechanic) in the engine bay. I have read tons of threads from all over the web about people fixing the leak at the exhaust manifold: welding, do-nuts, tightening bolts, etc.

I have no diagram of the exhaust manifold and cannot find one anywhere.

Could someone tell me exactly where to look or point me to a downloadable diagram?

Thanks in advance!!!

Thomassayers, hey; Since you are new to working on trucks,I have one thing to say to you,Dont get to mocho with the wrench on the exhaust nuts,The torque is very low on these nuts.13 to18 lbs Is what it is. i dont understand why you need a diagram for exhaust nuts???? any way be very careful tighting those nuts....or youll be buying a new head or a heliacoil.good luck oldgray

A Hanes manual is an excellent 10 bucks spent. It has lots of pictures(not a dig) and is geared more toward the everyday guy. It still does assume some mechanical experience but is very helpful.

On to your problem. It would be very helpful to you to get this mechanic to tell you exactly where in the bay this leak is. If not, you will have to identify it yourself, either look for black soot spots or get a piece of tube you can hold to your ear and the suspected area. Good luck.
