new exhaust installed, restart computer?

new exhaust installed, restart computer?

SHould I reset the computer ? Just had the 15609 installed and was wondering if I should have reset the computer.

I did. Don't know if it made any difference or if was needed. Seems like the computer should adjust to the new settings with or without disconnecting it.

it is reccomended that when your truck undergoes a change that the computer be reset.
Disconnect negative terminal and turn key to "on" and turn on headlights. Leave like this for 20 mins or so. Then reconnect and crank truck and drive it a few miles. This should do it.

I don't see any point to it unless you had degraded performance before the change, like old plugs or O2 sensors. The computer learns driving habits like shift points and spark timing. Make a mod, and it will learn from the effects of the new parts over about 500 miles. If you reset the computer and all those tables of information, it is still going to re-learn over 500 miles, just re-learn everything, not just the efects of the mod. I don't see a benefit or probelm with resetting.
