Stainless vs. Aluminized
Stainless vs. Aluminized
Which is the best material for exhaust systems to be made of? I want one that will last and not degrade performance over time because of rust or other corrosion. Of course, I have a little while to wait before there are cat-backs available for my 2004, but I'd appreciate any thoughts on which kind of metal to select. i know i read that one is better than the other, i just can't remeber which is which.
and in case anyone is interested, Gibson has cat-backs available for the 2004 F-150 SuperCab.

Thanks for the compliments! I like the wheel and tires I've got. I think the wheels have a nice, clean look, nothing too fancy but not extremely plain. I like the BFGs - the ride pretty good and they are quiet for being a 35" tire. Sometimes I do wish I had the aggressive look of a mud tire, but I don't do much offroading at all, so I need the functionality of an AT. Plus you can't beat $125/tire from Tirerack.com!!!
GPM wise, I average about 13+, with half the miles at 60 and the other thru the city. I used to average about 15 stock, so the decrease isn't terrible.

sorry, i'm sort of a newb to this. i've heard of all the others, but what's B&B? got linky?
and packager_jr, i take it you have no exhaust or intake mods on your beast since none are listed in your sig. would that help your MPG?

Correct, I've got no intake or exhaust mods. Those mods may help with MPG but that's not the reason I'd get them. I knew that a 5500# truck with a 5.4L and 35's isn't going to blow the MPG off a hybrid Civic
I'll put on exhaust once the Magnaflow SIDO kit becomes more field tested. As for intake, I've heard some complain of a annoying whine with that AF1 kit. That's enough to steer me clear for now.

Take into consideration that when you upgrade tire sizes that your odemeter will not read your actual milage. For example, when up sizing, your odemeter wil read LESS than the actuall distance traveled. So in turn, if you have not corrected the odemeter, you do not have an acurate way of calculating gas milage. Correct me if i am wrong, but i am pretty dang sure.
Just my 2 cents...

I think you can also take it to the dealer and they should be able to recalibrate it comletely for under $50 (maybe even less).
wow APT, i looked around at those B&B exhausts and they are expensive! $795 for an F-150 kit. wow. they may be damn good, but i will leave them to the Vette owners.
