Any true duals

Hey guys,I just got a 99 150 and ive been wantin some true dual exhaust. Does anyone know of an after market place that makes them, or do i have to go to a exhaust shop and have them custom made?
I dont want it to have a single pipe anywhere, two pipes the whole way.

Thanks guys

The muffer shops that I visited waxed poetic about the topic of power loss and setting DTC / causing the MIL to illuminate.

If this is what the shop tells you, nod your head and walk out. If nothing else find a speed shop in your area. These guys will know what is going on.

I put True duals ( Bassani cat back kit from a L ) on my truck in JAN-03, and love it. I stayed with the stock cats for the moment. I am figuring out what is next, and if I do high flow cats, it will be in concert with long tube headers.

I have not seen a kit bend ready to go, all here have gotten the parts on did it ( Neal ) or had it done ( the rest of us ).

It will make a difference in how the truck pulls off the line, and not in the bad way that some will say.

The key is a full 16ga T-304 SS pipe and system, at a minimun to the front of the mufflers. Aluminized pipe will cause too much heat loss in the system, which in turn will jack up the xhst gas flow, and cause a TQ loss. Contrary to popular verbage, backpressure does not make TQ, conversly removal of backpressure does not equal a loss in TQ. It all has to do with the flow of the xhst gas. Badly bent pipe can mess up the xhst flow and cause a loss of TQ on a SI/SO system.

Word to the wise, get a shop that knows how to bend SS pipe. I found that the labor rate was much higher at the speed shop, but I got a guy that does high performance work for a living, not the 8.00 / hr muffler swaper that most shops have.

Ask Mike Troyer if you want an opinion on the topic, he will give you the straight poop on the topic. Stay away from muffler shops like Merlins and Mineke and the likes, unless you know them real well. I got a referenece for a 2 shop chain that was suposed to be great, and I got the MIL lamps story, and him wanting to pull my existing cat back for a Vortech cat back system

Good luck with the mod either way.

i've got true duals on my 97 with 4.6. I used flowmaster 40's and 2.25" pipping all the way to try and keep my torque at normal rpms. I just ordered a new magnaflow dual in/out muffler. I guess its one of the newer ones out. only 11" long. Hopefully i'll gain my low end back and keep it loud.

Thumbs up

I've had them on my 98 4.6 for almost three years now and never a single problem. I used 2 1/4" pipe and 24" glasspacks. Sounds good without being obnoxious. I didn't lose any low end to speak of, still burns the one rear tire easily. It was custom bent, in aluminized pipe.,,,,98
