Unhappy Duals and headers

My muffler guy said that theses 5.4's just dont get that much from headers. He claims for what you get there not worth the money. He suggested i redo the gears. Also I have abuddy who just split the pipe and put true duals on his FX4. His sounds deeper and fuller than mine with his knock-off Flowmasters. I've got Flowmaster 40's but his is deeper and stronger sounding. Same 5.4. Any thoughts guys??

Muffler guy is probably right. My son-in-law put long tube headers on his bullitt Mustang. Sounds great, but didn't get much of increase in horsepower from it. He also took off the Cats, put on an off-road "X" pipe and a full set of magnaflow mufflers and tail pipes. I think the dyno showed about 8 - 10 horsepower gain. Not much for the bucks spent. Like I said, it sounds great. The magnaflows really give it a deep sound
