Best set up 4.6

I did a search for the "best set up" for a non PI 4.6 but opinions and products are always changing. Take into consideration the truck is a 4x4 long bed reg cab. There are only stage 1 mods on the motor. My current set up is a Flowmaster 40 Delta si/so 2.5 with 2.5 plumbing after the factory Y. It dumps out the passenger side in front of the wheel with a 3.5x18 slash cut tip. I'm happy with what I've done, now its time to cut out the rest. I plan to use FMS or JBA shorty's w/ceramic, 2 magnaflow cats, and a 2- 2.5 in 1- 2.5 out Y and hook up to what I've got.
Is an X pipe with another muffler better power wise? I'll have the volume for sure, but I don't want to kiss my torque goodbye with my money.
Thanks

Id rather have Magnaflow myself--they sound better than flo's. Im not sure about the X pipe, although many say its the way to go. Im currently running straight pipes and dont plan to change so i could care less about mufflers.....
