Magnaflow 15609 magnetic?

Are these systems a form of stainless steel that is magnetic? Just recieved mine today and everything is magnetic except the polished tip and hangers.
Thinking about changing the tip so the insdide pipe don't show.

Hey there. I wont claim to know more than what I actually do.

I dont have your setup in front of me, and I have never seen one. What I do know is that there are different types of stainless and some tend to be slightly magnetic. Alot of stuff shipping from overseas is that way.

I dont know the origin of the steel in which you are inquiring, and I hope that I dont lead you to think that you have a system there that is of a lesser stainless.

You could do some research on the net about what the characteristics of different stainless steel is.

I hope that this helps, and doesnt take anything away from your purchase.

I found out from Magnaflow that the 15609 is made out of 3 or 4 different blends on stainless steel, thats why some of its magnetic.

big difference between 300 and 400 series stainless. 300 series , 304 specifically is what you think of when you think stainless, a magenet will not stick and it will not rust, higher nickle content is one thing.
400 will get rust but tipically will no rust thru on an exhaust system, higher iron content and a magnet wiil stick.
you definently want your tips to be 304.
