flowmaster vs. magnaflow ?

i have a 2000 expy 4.6 & was considering the flowmaster 70 series "big block 2" muffler, i want it to sound like a stock harley f-150(MAYBE a little louder) but MN2001F-150 says his dad put one on his dodge & it sounded stock? was it SI/SO or SI/DO? I have never heard a magnaflow before, as it seems, EVERYBODY on here swears by them! would a magnaflow sound close to what i am looking for? i DO NOT want it to RUMBLE... just very mellow, like a harley! so has anybody besides MN2001F-150 tried the 70 series flowmaster? can i get the magnaflow to sound like i want(maybe with resonators)?

If you want Harley sound, why not buy a used Harley system?

I am not a big fan of Flowmaster any more. I used to be and had once one a past vehicle, but I don't like the baffle type of sound any more. Regardless, the 70 series is not very loud.

If you want a smooth mellow sound, Magnaflow, Borla, or similar type is what I think you would prefer. A stainless Magnaflow #14256 is under $90 plus $20 installion at many shops. Deep mellow sound, no drone, and not annoying.

I just recently had a Magnaflow #12256 put on and I believe it would be exactly what you are looking for. I have a 2001 F150 with a 4.6 and I was asking around on here for the same thing and this is what someone suggested. It has a nice throaty tone with but not real loud. I love the sound and for $105 installed, you cant beat it. Good luck!!

Cool

HI!... Got with the MAGNAFLOW mufflers. I have had both set-ups, FLOWMASTER/MAGNAFLOW. All I can say is I will never buy another FLOWMASTER muffler again. They were absolute JUNK!!!!!! They sounded like crap, they cracked all the time, and they were all rusted after 2 years of use. The MAGNAFLOW mufflers blow away the FLOWS 10-1.

I've got to agree with Neal, the Magnaflow system blows Flow's away. I have Magnaflow now and it's great. I though it was to quiet at first, but when I stood ourside and heard it rev up it sounded great. After a few months now, it has gotten just a tad louder, I would highly recommend it.

Depends on how loud you want it.

I believe all magnaflows have the same design: straight through, no baffles or anything. So, you should gain your power back either way.

Just remember that the bigger the muffler the quiter it is going to be. I went with the smallest SS SI/DO muffler they had. Sounds great.
