Question straight piped?

I want my truck to sound pretty loud but yet not so loud you cant hear yourself think. Most pple where i live just dual exhaust it and straight pipe it. Is this hard on the engine with creating almost no backpressure? Does it screw your o2 sensors up and give you poorer gas mileage? What size pipe should you use? I would sure appreciate the help with this and if there is something better to do i would like the input.

If you leave your "cadillac" converters on there and just run pipe after that it souds really deep and will almost cackle with a short box regular cab. I myself have single into a turbo muffler and dual after that out the back. It sounds real good but I would rather not be able to hear myself. But my set up is quite in the cab. I have heard on newer trucks that your motor might not run right without any back pressure. I had a 91 before my 97 and I did not have anything but pipe on that and she ran great.
