Need help picking exhaust
Need help picking exhaust
Hi,
I am the original owner of a '95 extended cab 4X4 5.0 litre f150. It currently has a K&N cone air filter (a small power improvement and more induction noise) and an AirRaid intake spacer (haven't noticed any improvement with that addition), and the cooling fan has been changed out for an electric one.
I now am ready to choose a set of exhaust headers and a cat-back system to improve my towing power.
Can anyone comment on their experiences in this quest.
Confused with choices,
Regards
Gary

It's well-agreed that if you're looking for power, stay away from the Flowmasters. They're for sound.
Gibson, Borla, Bassani and Magnaflow all brag approximately the same increases. According to Mike Troyer's site (TroyerPerformance.com) he has tried them all and recommends Magnaflow. Mike really knows his stuff, so he'd be a good guy to rely on. I've only had experiences with Flowmaster and Gibson. I'm happy with my system's performance, though I wish I'd have sprung for the stainless steel system.
Everyone has their own preferences. I'd recommend you go to each major manufacturer's site, do your research, and buy whichever one you feel comfortable with. I'm not sure what's offered for your generation F150, but I'm pretty sure it's the standard stuff from the standard companies.
Happy hunting.
