Custom Magnaflow True Dual
I thought I would share with everybody the latest mod to my truck. I pulled off my old Flowmaster Force II system and replaced it with a custom Magnaflow design. All I can say is WOW
There is a world of differece between the two. Thanks to Mike Troyer and his always helpful wife Anita I came up with the following design. I removed the y-pipe and replaced it with a Magnaflow X-Pipe from there I took stainless tubing and ran into dual Magnaflow 14316's (4x9x14). All this was topped off with Magnaflow's F150 dual exit tail pipes and some new stainless tips. There is not doubt that the throttle response and gas flow is much better. You can actually stand at the rear of the truck and see even amounts of exhaust fumes coming out of each tip. There is no way I could have pulled of such a nice system without the help of Troyer Performance, I would highly recommend them. There are pictures of the install in my gallery.

SmokeyFX4,
Most of the work was done in a local specialty shop, I wanted to get it done right, and the only way to do that was to get the truck on a rack. There is plenty of clearance between the tips and the hitch. I have the tips sticking out just far enough to look down over the bumper and see that nice, etched magnaflow logo.

LStroker, very nice setup on that rig of yours. Like I have said in other posts I bought a 2002 FX4 and Im looking for a good exhaust to gain nice sound, MPG, HP, and torque. This is probably the way Im looking to go. What performance did you notice with this install if any? I do some towing, I have a 20 foot Ski Nautique do you think this setup will affect my towing abilities? Did you get everything you needed from Troyer or just the x-pipe and the mufflers? I really hate the fact that these trucks have 4 converters on them, that has to rob a bunch of power, sawsall anyone?
I would really like to hack these honkers off and put some high flows on but were getting into more jack with that. I think I will try a simular setup to yours and do the cats later. What was the costs of your install? Again great setup and I hope to here from you soon.

The power increase in noticeable. I wish I had access to a dyno so I could measure for sure, but the seat of the pants meter is happy. I got everything from Troyer that I needed. The cost of the total project was around $400.00. The sound is nice also, it sounds very good under throttle, I wish it was a little more noticeable at idle, but that may change as the mufflers are broken in.
Suds5.4,
The x-pipe and seperate mufflers are more efficient than the dual-in / dual out muffler. You will not get the same performance increase with the muffler alone because the Tru-X "technology" does not equate to a real x-pipe. The x-pipe needs to be mounted as close to where the factory y-pipe was. I did alot of research on the subject, and if you are interested you could call Mike @ Troyer Performance or Magnaflow they will both explain how each design is different.
