Magnaflow Cat-back (15609)
Magnaflow Cat-back (15609)
Hello all,
First off, this site rocks
!! I recently traded my '02 Edge for a '03 F-150 and was afraid I wouldn't find a good site like I did for the Ranger. Luckily, I was way off....
Anyway, I bought the truck and planned on driving it for a while before 'modding' it any. Then, 1 week after buying it, mother nature took it upon herself to pound it with hail to the tune of about $2500. So, I figured it was a sign from above
,right? How could I ignore it?
I started with a custom hood and a match painted spray-in bed liner. Put on all the usual plastic accessories (though they're not painted yet) to smoothe her out a bit and then dove under the hood. So far I've only put a K&N FIPK kit, but I'm only about two months into owning it (it spent 2-weeks of that time in the body shop).
So that's the long and the short of what I've been up to so far. Now I'm looking for some new exhaust. Anyone heard good/bad/indifferent about the Magna-Flow Cat-Back system (15609). I've read a couple of sites that say it out performs a lot of the dual conversion kits. Curious to know if anyone knows of some killer pricing out there while I'm at it.
Thanks in advance everyone. I'll post some pics when I get my camera fixed.

I think it's the best aftermarket exhaust for our trucks. I will be purchasing teh magnaflow 15609 kit as soon as I have time to install it (about a month or so). Another good point is that teh kit is made of 436 SS, which repels rust and everything else. I'm sold.
PS welcome to the boards.

Also, Mike Troyer (AKA SUPERCHIPS_DISTRIBUTOR) in the Computerchips forum has the best prices that I have seen. You could also check out his site at: www.troyerperformance.com

I agree with MF150!
O3XLT, I called Full Line Exhaust in Austell, GA. His number is
1-800-467-9917 and I spoke with Randy. Their price for the 15609 is $268.25 + tax and freight. He initially estimated frt to be $50-$60, which I thought was high. He did not stock these and they would have to be shipped from the factory in The People's Republic of California. So, I called Magnaflow and spoke with Liz. The factory can drop ship to any location and she let me know that they can ship FedEx ground for $38.07 to my company here in GA. That's what I did and I am VERY happy with the results. Also, be sure to have 2 spare 3" clamps and 1 spare
2 1/2"clamp from Autozone or wherever - I broke the 2 1/2" clamp when tightening it.
Let us know what happens.

That's awesome - thanks for the info (and the tips). So did you just end up going through Randy and having him ship them directly to you then. Did he just charge you whatever Magnaflow quoted you?
Thanks again for the help folks.

03,
I had to go through Randy because Magnaflow would not sell direct. I had called Liz at the factory and she quoted the frt price after calling FedEx. She also said to let Randy know to ship FedEx ground (they normally ship FredEx 3 day & that jacks up the frt) and I told him what the freight would be per Liz. And, that's what I got. I was able to charge this to my Visa card - very clean. I received it in about 5 bus. days. By far this was the best price out there.

And this is for an true 15609 kit? Stainless all the way? Did you happen to ask Randy how he can beat everyone else by $100 or more?
Do you have a number for Liz? If I can get these kinds of prices, I'll be calling Randy very soon. At that price, he can sell alot of these systems.

Do you have any pics on that? That sounds like a good price since MSRP on that is $566 (as per Magnaflow's website).

Mike Troyer has a great price, too. Check it out on www.troyerperformance.com. He is also a site sponsor.
The 15609 is fully SS, meaning all parts are made of 436 SS. $200. sounds a little low for a Magnaflw set-up, but he, if it's the real MCcoy, Give me the number!

Linetest,
As far as I know, there's only one #15609 ss kit. No, I did not ask him how he could do it for that price, $268.25 + tax and $38.07 for frt. Maybe it's just a Southern thing.
However, I just called and spoke with Doug @ Full LIne and he quoted me $270.00 + tax and frt. I guess they had a price increase.
Liz's # is 1-800-990-0905 at the Magnaflow factory. BTW, it came directly from Magnaflow, factory packed and BEAutiful, growl.

Thanks Brew. I know there is only one 15609 kit. I guess I wanted to make sure you got the real thing.
Is Doug and Randy ready to handle the orders? I guess I will call them tomorrow or Friday and order one myself. If it works out like your deal, I'll be plastering their names all over the web. It'll cost a tad more to ship to me in central NC, but I should save on tax.
Thanks for the tip. They will be hearing from me shortly.
Do you get a commission

That's a big negatory on that commission, but feel free to donate any $$ to www.ThePrintMonkey.com (just kidding).
I'm just a regular guy with a Ford truck. I hope this info helps others, too.
Unless you have a good home shop setup, I would take it directly to a muffler man and have him remove it. I had problems. I was underneath my truck on my back for about 1 1/2 hours trying to pull the old one off. It was loose and rotated somewhat, but when the factory put the clamp on it bulged. My mechanic used an air chisle to get it off.
Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

I'd concur with the positive comments out here on the Magnaflow 15609 catback system. I have it on my truck (pics in my gallery) and love it. If you're looking to upgrade your exhaust, I don't think you can go wrong with this system.

TJ4,
The factory will not sell direct. The price you got is probably list. You should go through a dealer. I posted all the phone numbers. Yes, it is complete cat-back, but you must add beer, though.
It does not come with hangers because it utilizes the factory mounts/hangers.

Brew.....
I've called Full Line Exhaust, and got the price you said. I haven't ordered yet, because I wanted the SI/DO and they run $342 plus S/H. Way over my budget. I also called a muffler shop and they said they could install the SI/DO Magnaflow with tips for $340+tax. I'm waiting for him to get back with me to see if that is the dual system #15749.
Thanks for the help.
