Final decision...Magnaflow 15609 or Bassani
Final decision...Magnaflow 15609 or Bassani
I need some advice...I've been tossing up the idea of Magnaflow exhaust for some time now, but the allure of running Forward exiting Bassani won't go away. The price difference is around $200. What should I do? Should I save up the $200 more and splurge on the Bassani or settle for the good quality and performance of Magnaflow?
need your help all! I want to trash my Flowmasters (personal growth thing--I want performance not just noise
)
Thx.
pS anyone know what Bassani sounds like on a 4.6L?

Personally I can't say that I've ever heard a Bassani exhaust, aside from a Lightning going by possibly. I have heard two trucks with Magnaflows, however. One truck had a magnacharger and a SI/DO magnaflow exhaust. Sounded just louder than stock, but when floored it growled. This was Flats Mans' truck which I had the chance to drive once, quite an experience!
The other truck was a chipped 5.4 reg cab short bed. It also sounded great. Not too much louder than stock at idle, and awesome when opened up. I would go Magnaflow, especially since it seems to be the choice of more and more members here. Of course this all just my opinion, I just like the way they sound

I had the Bassani on my L, sounded great but was a bit loud and it kept getting louder as it got older. It also droned in the cab on the highway which started to get on my nerves. For that reason I'm going to put the Magnaflow on my SCrew, but the Bassani is a very high quality system and I highly recommend it if you want a louder system.
That's reminds me of another thing about the Magnas. They do not drone much at highway speeds, from what I remember. They only seem to make noise when you put your foot in it. Otherwise at idle and cruising, they are just loud enough to let you know it's not stock.,,,,98

drmoore- Did the noise increase because of interior deterioration (Like Flowmasters rusting out) or was it just normal break-in? I know thw Bassani system is SS, but SS can also rust. I want the system to last, and I don't want to have to replace due to rust or anything else.
Will Bassani give me max performance as well as the sound?
Magnaflow is a no brainer...it's just a great system, but how does it compare to Bassani (performance and sound)?
Thanks.

I will be trading my truck for a Mustang GT 03 next monday or tuesday, so I need your opinions about Mustang exhaust.
I'm having anxiety about saying goodbye to my truck. i don't want to hurt her feelings, but she's leaked on me twice, now. I can't tolerate HG leaks in a relationship!

mf150,
No rust at all, it was pure break in. They are a glasspack type muffler, so they do get louder with use. Also as a side note, the Bassani also stinks to high heaven when new, would run me out of garage, whew! I really didn't notice any performance change, either increase or decrease. Sounded bad a$$ though. A buddy has the Bassani on this Mustang, sounds like a Ferrarri on that 4.6.

Just picked up the stang today. I put close to 200 miles on the car. I'm in love. Even completely stock, the handling, acceleration, and over-all comfort far supercedes the performance of the truck. Also teh 4.6L (Stang) sounds like an engine should (without piston slap!) I think this is the car that I'm going to keep for a lifetime.
It's silver-metalic with the premium wheels, 5 speed 4.6L, steel pedals, 6 cd disk changer with Mach speakers, dark charcoal interior w/ leather, the car even comes with electric fans!
In other words, I'm impressed.
I loved my truck, but this Mustang is the one for me.
As for the exhaust, it already comes stock with a SS dual system. It's pretty deep in tone, and I hear that it gets deeper with some time. I've decided I'm not going to touch the car, for a while. I'm going to keep her stock.
JBA is great. They are exchanging my F-150 (unused) headers for the Mustang 4.6L headers for no charge. They will probably be sitting in my closet for a while, though.
