Talking Magnaflow 15609 and Other Mods

I have been lurking for a while after I stumbled onto this web site and I like it. I was having some real power loss when using the A/C in the summer months in HotLanta and wanted a few extra HP. Here is what I did:

Magnaflow 15609 :
I bought this from a company called Full Line Exhaust in Austell, GA. It cost $ 265.00 + frt & tax (by far the best prices I have seen anywhere). Full Line quoted me about $50-$60 for freight, which I thought was too much, so I called the factory for real frt cost - $38.00 FedEx ground.

Removal was difficult beacause the intermdiate pipe would not slide off the y-pipe. I guess because the factory had really tightened the clamp and made a bulge. I was lucky, though. My neigborhood repair shop was just about to close at 4:00 on a Saturday and he said "come on by". I helped him and we installed the new one. BTW, the Magnaflow clamps aren't very good - we broke a 2.5" but had the factory one and replaced it.

Great sound and what a difference in performance! I was looking for max performance bolt-on cat back. Not like the loud FM that everyone else in town has, no offense or flame inteded to FM people.

Next I removed the rubber snorkel restrictor from the air cleaner housing to the fender well. It looked like the snorkel was only 2" wide and fender hole was 3.5". That made a huge difference in power. Then I removed the air silencer and again a big difference. I will probably spring for a real FIPK but wanted to see what the Po-Man's solution would do first.

A tuner is also on the wish list soon. This is my company truck and I drive it at least 100 miles per day every day ( I am 43 miles from my company each way). Below are my truck specs:

2000 F150 Black Sport - 88,000 miles
Ext Cab
5.4L SOHC
Tow Pkg
3.55 LS rear end

Hey Monkey,

Did this kit come with the SS tips? How long did it take? Did you weld or just clamp? Any problems since you did it?

Thanks,
Terry

Details on the system at Troyer Performance. The whole system is stainless and the muffler and tip are polished stainless.
