Unhappy Check Engine Light

For some reason while driving from the Mountains of Colorado to the East Coast, my F150 1996 starts out fine then after a time through Kansas the check engine light will come on. Normally when I return or after some time it will go out but it continues to remain on now. I have spent far too much money for a dealer to say it was just a bit of dirt that needed to be blown out. I've changed the air filter, still on...any idea of an quick easy way for a Lady to resolve this problem.

Yeah I had the evil SES light on when I got my truck, best thing to do is to go to autozone where they check it for free and it will tell you exactly what's wrong. Most likely it is an O2 sensor. Thats what was wrong with mine. Needless to say autozone doesn't like when you tell them you don't need to buy a O2 sensor and you instead purchuse a couple bottles of Octane boost and injector cleaner. Needless to say if the dealer says it's dirt nuke it out! then reset your computer by dis. the battery. Usually works. If not sorry that's all the tricks I know. hope it helps.
