warranty question
I just put a new flowmaster 40 series exhaust system on my truck, and someone told me that this kills my warranty on the truck. Someone else told me it should'nt. Does anyone know if it does void the warranty on my engine. I also want to get a new air intake. Would this effect my warranty for the engine at all?
Thanks for any input,
Jim

Re: all aftermarket parts. The warranty is void if the manufacturer can prove that the aftermarket parts caused the failure. So, if you put on an exhaust, you pretty much only void any warranty relating to the original exhuast, nothing to do with the eingine or transmission for example.
thanks for the info man
thats what i was thinking, and the guy that did my exhaust gave me a 2 year warranty on the whole system so i should be good for awhile. What about putting a modified air intake in? Would that void my engine warranty or just the intake warranty, although it is connected and directly related to the enigne?

Agian, Ford would have to prove that the new air intake system contributed to the failure. If the new intake wasn't sealed and something large got into the engine to damage it, the warranty is void. Common things with aftermarket intakes are messing up the MAF sensor by getting oil on it.
