Performance Question?

I am looking for a Catback system for my 2003 Supercrew 5.4L. I am confused as to the benefits between SIDO and DIDO systems. i'm looking for good performance and good sound, not too loud.

Any suggestions?

jbless I would like to suggest Borla it will give you a nice performance increase and sounds o so sweet but not loud. It has a nice mellow rumble yet you know it is a V-8 under the hood in fact when really accelrating hard it has a big block sound . There is no resonting in the cab when on the freeway like with flowmaster and some of the other baffled designs. Go to www.borla.com and read all the info they have on there site it will be very helpful for you. Magnaflow are aslo supose to be good but I have no expeiance with them since I have only used Borla since 1988 and is all I will use. Since they ave a liftetime warranty.

More than likely they do but without knowing which engine you have I could not check. As for price I would try www.truckperformance.com however do not order it online call them and then when you order it ask for free shipping or a even a discount on the price they are really good with that. You can ask for Leon or dial his ext which is #233 He is a good guy to deal with. Since you are in Texas they may not give the free shipping but they will discount it for you more than likely.

jbless,

A SI/DO muffler on the system is for install after the factory Y pipe. So if you look at the install directions on the kit of your choosing, they give a measurement or place to cut off the stock muffler and tail pipe.

A DI/DO muffler is for when you are converting to true duals. This is where the factory Y pipe is cut off, and the drivers and passenser sides pipes from the cats are routed to a X pipe, then the output of the X pipe is routed to 2 SI/SO or a DI/DO muffler.

For the cat back, if you want the DO look, then you are needing to get a cat back system of some type.

If you want to take off the stock can, in favor of a little more sounds, and a slight pick me up, you can just swap out the stock muffler in favor of SI/SO muffler. Might not be the same increase as a cat back, but it is also quite less then a cat back.

Long story short, need to start out with what you want for the output look of the system and work from there.

You might want to consider a Gibson system. I am very happy with mine and two buddies of mine have been so impressed as to purchase and install the same system in their trucks. The Gibson is throaty and slightly agressive without being loud and obnoxious. It really just depends what you are looking for. I can tell you that the Gibson is one of the best deals out there. I paid $289.00 for mine including shipping.

Performance and gas milage were both improved when I changed to the Gibson.
