Thumbs up is it true that Flowmasters dont require welding???

I have this guy that is going to help me out and put a Flowmaster exhaust on my truck if I get one. He said since I have a 2003 that a cat back system wont require any welding??? I called for a price on a 40series delta flow SI/DO, and was told $420 for the parts. Does anyone kno a place that I can order a system from online???

Question

Another question? I have a 2003 F150 extended cab, and all the places that sell flowmaster systems online have the set-up that you order a system for a 87-96 f150, or 97 f150. I have a 2003 and there is no category for this. its a 4.6L so does this mean that I just order the 97 one?????????????
Im confused. If I order the 97 it will fit my truck right?

My install was $300 for the entire system. Fully welded and I have 2 stainless STeel tips, so they were a bit more, and the bends were a bit more complex, but used less pipe. I was pleased.

Question how did you guys get these prices?

I have been shopping around for awhile, and the best deal i found was $325 installed, not including tips. I could'nt even find a flowmaster system online for under $300! I kno the mufflers alone are like $75 but im getting a new system. The guy thats doing it is going to custom bend the pipes. Am I missing something? the cheapest system on line was $299 for Force II, and flowmaster suggested retail for that system is like $450.

Whats going on here?

Thanks
Jim

neck4752,

Check with Summit Racing. They sell a SI/DO Flowmaster Kit that can be installed without welding and comes with all brackets and hardware. It also comes with crome tips (dont know if they are stainless). I think the entire kit is about $300.
I helped a friend of mine install one on his 4.6 Supercab. I don't think the year matters.
I think for a complete kit including brackets that you can install in your driveway, that is not a bad price. All pipes are pre-bent and there are no crimp bends (mandrel bent). When you buy a system that is custom bent, most are crimp bends since few shops have mandrel bending tools.
The problem is the premade kits are for the 50 and 60 series.
You can buy the muffler here http://shop.ivalueinternet.com/bigex...ction/home.htm and also pick up the tail pipes from Magnaflow at this same site. Both products will cost less then $200 and you can have your friend do the install or just buy the hardware and do it yourself. The Magnaflow pipes are real good quality and fit around the full size spare. If you check here https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=110535 you will see pictures how I addapted the stock hanger behind the muffler to fit the new pipes.
Good luck

The quote you have receivd are way too much.

Listen to WLF's advice. Buy the Maganflow pre-bent tail pipes for about $85. They are better than what 98% of shops can custom bend for you, and probably cost less than the labor and materials a shop would charge. You do not have to weld anything, as you can clamp things.

thanks for the info guys

thanks for all the input guys!
I went with the greatest deal i could found around. like WLF said I found the Force II system for $280, not including shipping to Boston from Indiana, and the was the greates deal, until I called a local exhaust specialist shop. I got to pick an series muffler I wanted SI/DO of course, and they would weld it in and custom bend the pipes. This they said would be $325 thats including the labor. I then picked a pair of 3.5" stainless steal tips for $100, Supposedly usually $125. Oh and i went with the flowmaster 40series Delta Flow. Looks like they did a great job, and sounds real nice. hope to have pics of my truck up soon once i figure out how to do this gallery thing!!
But thanks for all the input, Im happy with what I got.

Jim
