Question Which MagnaFlow??

I need help....
I want to replace my Gibson Single Swept Side muffler with a Magnaflow muffler. I plan on keeping the existing 3" Gibson pipes and stainless steel tip. I do not want drone or resonance in the cab.
Should I go with the --

1) 5x8x18 part #12249 or
2) 5x11x22 part #12579

I want a louder exhaust than the Gibson, but I do not want irritating drone or resonance in the cab.

Thanks for any and all input on this question.

The shorter the muffler the louder. I would go with a 14319, or 12319 if you dont want the stainless one. www.bigexhaust.com has good prices.

Just an update to my own question.....

I decided on the MagnaFlow 5x8x18 #12259 3" offset in/center out and found what I was looking for.

A good deep rumble at idle and on take off but not very loud at cruising speeds. My wife is happy and I am happy.

I found the MagnaFlow to be louder than the Gibson and has very little drone in the cab at speeds above 60 mph.

I originally tried a DynoMax UltraFlow part #17223 3" round SI/SO and was not happy with the drone at highway speeds. Loved the deep rumble at idle and at speeds below 35 mph. It just had to much drone or resonance at speeds above 60 mph.

If someone is looking for loud, then you may want to consider the DynoMax UltraFlow. I am very happy with my MagnaFlow SI/SO.

There is always good information on this site!!

Good update Triton! I have been thinking about getting a magnaflow muffler also to replace my stock muffler, but I am more interested in a performance gain that loudness. Just worried I will end up getting something too loud I guess.

I have the Magnaflow 12589 which is the 5x11x22 but center/offset vs. the center/center 12579.

You made the right choice for your needs as the 12589 to me has been quieter than the Gibson.

As for 02XLT I have also found the Magnaflow to provide better power performance for me than the Gibson I had.

Good luck.

Ups just delivered my Magnaflow (11266) / 4x9x18 / 2.5 in / siso for my 5.4 Screw.

Just replacing my original muffler and leaving stock exhaust out the side.

Hope its not gonna be too loud, maybe should have gone with the 5x8x18 0r the 5x11x22.

I just want it to sound like a V-8 when i crank it up at idle and have a little rumble on hard aceleration.

Thanks, all coments welcome

Please let us know what you think of your new muffler, I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing. Also, I've never tackled exhaust work, are you going to do it yourself or take it to a shop. How hard is it to do by yourself? Thanks
