Need help choosing a exhaust

I am looking to add headers & exhaust system . I have heard many of the mustang guys with some serious sounding pipes .
Anyone have a good idea how to get that sound and is there any improvements in mileage or performance . I like the sound , but if I am not going to feel anymore power or mileage ,there is not really any point . Looking forward to hear your comments.

For my 5.4 V8, I like the flowmaster. Of course, there are plenty that would say Magnaflow, Borla, etc. are the best. Ask 100 people and you'll like ly get 100 different answers. Establish a budget of what you want to spend, listen to some of the sound clips, and look around for the best deal. With my Flowmaster Cat-Back, I got about 1. more MPG. With the addition of the iceman intake (an intake is an excellent compliment to an exhaust) I went up another 1.5 MPG. I've been running consistently at 19.0 to 19.2 for the past several fill-ups.

Hope this helps.

I have a 40 series flowmaster si/do on mine 4.6 V8 and i like it sounds just like a mustang with the same engines. Chances are the mustang guys have flowmasters and that not expensive.

I, too, have a SI/DO Flowmaster Cat back. I have the 50 series Delta flow. After a few weeks the sound improved and got one heck of a lot deeper. As for headers, I'm ordering JBA's tomorrow sometime before noon (western time). Make sure you get ceramic coated...my $.02

A lot would say that a magnaflow system is better because it has a more straight through technology versus baffle, but honestly, anything is an improvment over stock, and the differences between the gain at most will be only a few foot pounds of torque at part throttle. I don't know if it would even be noticable. Be interesting to see what others say.

If you have the 5.4 engine, you might want to consider Bassani headers. the Ford Motor Sport dealers sell them. Just don't get cheap headers. I've read some horror stories about cheap headers!!!

G luck

gschein is correct. I would first decided on how loud you want it, whether you want it to come out forward of the rear wheel or single out or dual out and finally how much your willing to spend.
Decide that and then look at what is available.
