It would probably void the warranty on everything from there on back no doubt but I don't see how it could void anything else. According to Magneson Moss they would have to prove that it was the cause of whatever your trying to have fixed. Shouldn't affect the Cats, O2's, nothing like that. I would suspect though that if you developed an exhaust leak at a header or something it might be a tough argument. They could say the mods were not done properly and stressed the headers etc. Just speculation on my part though.

I stopped by the ford dealer today and asked them. they said that the entire piece (y-pipe cats, censors) is one uniform piece. you have to cut part of it out to replace the Y. He said that by doing this you void your drivetrain warranty (including the engine)! I just got my Flowmaster 3" exhaust installed this afternoon and did not replace the Y pipe. My truck is 3 weeks old and i cant void the warranty yet... maybe in 36k. I dont notice any significant low end loss... at least not enough to void anything.

Cool

It cancels the warranty on the replaced/modified part, which is the segment of pipe from the exhaust manifold to the first segment behind the original Y-pipe. They would have to "prove" the part did damage to refuse warranty work. However, it is against Federal emissions law to do.

Post Y-Pipe Voiding Warranty!

I was told that replacing the Y-Pipe will void your warranty. Is this true?

When the dealers tell you "putting that sticker on your back window will void the powertrain warranty", about 50% of people give up on all their projects and ideas right there.

When the dealer says, "adding that bug deflector caused your rear axle to blow a seal - it is therefore not covered under warranty", another 50% of the people will take that at face value and pay for the repairs out of pocket.

You just have to use common sense and be aware that the dealer is always looking out for their own best interests. You can do a LOT of mods to a vehicle before the dealer can rightfully say the warranty is void.

Changing the exhaust after the cats and O2 sensors is pretty harmless and any sensible dealer would probably agree that the rattle in your dash or that leaky door seal that you are having fixed under warranty is probably not caused by your new 3" exhaust tip. Lighten up people!

If you replace something that is BEHIND the downstream 02 sensors, how can it possibly void the warranty? A tecnician will say anything to move a job from warranty to customer pay, because he makes more money. There is no way a job like that would void a warranty, unless the emission system was messed with. Come on folks, use some common sense here.
