Question Spin Tech mufflers

I was considering a spin tech cat back system or just a muffler, has anyone heard any thing about them? I've heard them on race cars and they sound pretty darn good but haven't heard them on a street car..info please.

Contact Ron and talk to him about what you are looking for and he can suggest a muffler or cat setup for you. ron@spintechmufflers.com or 1-888-550-SPIN

I have the cat-back system on my SCrew and love it! It comes with a x-pipe that replaces the factory y-pipe and the sound is terrific! I plan to replace the Flow Master setup on my Mustang with SpinTech's.

Marc,
Did you have any glitches installing the X-pipe system with the transfer case? Also where did you bring the tips out ? The stock location or ahead of the front wheel? And for the $64,000 question, have you noticed any difference in fuel consumption (after you get over stomping on it so you can hear it)

Just be sure to tell them you have a 4x4 and there should be any issue with the x-pipe. That was missed in my order and they had to send a replacement for the front pipe that leads from the driver side to the x-pipe. However if fit fine, no issues.

The exit is behind the wheel in the stock location in either dual or single exit. If you prefer dumping in front of the rear wheel or dual out the back, you can purchase the x-pipe and muffler and then have a shop route them as you like.

I haven't stopped playing to hear the sound yet but, I've seen no significate decrease in mpg which I think looks good for the long-term thought I don't expect any exhaust to make that much difference.

I was hoping actualy that like others you would say that the improved flow was less taxing on the motor and consequently saved you a few gallons here and there..
One guy said that after they torched his Y pipe off that the 21/2 or 21/4 in OD was actually a 11/2 ID at the factory joint.
Both sides flowing freely into 21/4 in would be a significant increase if his guestimate of 11/2 was accurate.

Just did 01 screw 5.4 yesterday. I put a spintech on a single 3 inch out with a turndown at the muffler for more sound. Was going to use a flowmaster like my last ford, but was told about the spintech. It is much smoother than the flowmaster. I used the 40 series prior. My guy makes his own y pipe and I looked closely at the factory hack job on the y. It is definitely crap with a small inlet and has the outer pipe covering over the hole with a big lip inside. It really has to hurt performance. Love my spintech, although I like the fmaster sound, but,,,bye bye flowmaster.

Terry,
any reason you didn't go with the "x"pipe that Spintech has?? Or just cause your guy could make his own?? You gotta 4X4? Also which one did you end up getting? I'm not looking for LOUD so I'll probably go with the RV one. Lemme know if you see better mileage...

SuperCrewMark or anyone who has the SpinTech x-pipe system. Is this system S/Steel? How is the overall performace & did you install yourself? I'm pretty interested in this type of system.

WT, I was not aware that spintech had a x pipe, was not even aware of spintech period when I went to the shop. My guy says he prefers to make his own Y pipe, I am not sure if an x pipe is different than a y pipe, I could not find a picture on spintechs site.
I also had no choice on the muffler since I got what was given to me, but I do trust this shop since we have dealt in the past.
He put on a sportsman street xl. It makes noise, a very deep tone. My last truck with the flowmaster 40 was a little more radical sounding. I like loud, I would have opted for a louder muffler had I known there was more choices. The spintech is much smoother feeling than the flowmaster, I like the way it feels better. I do not know about mpg yet, my truck only has 600 miles on it. Hey Spintech, how about trading me for a louder muffler?
Terry.

Just figured that I'd add that I'm very pleased with my spintech exhaust...It's a y exhaust but It's also on the 4.2 v-6 and I love it...Just thought I'd add my 2 cents..

Terry,
If you are unhappy with your Spintech I would call
and speak to Ron as mark mentioned above. They seem to me to wanna stand behind whatever they sell you.

Terry,
Just so you know, Your hearing gets worse as you grow up (or that's what my girlfriend keeps telling me) so you'll actully have to go louder and louder...

I have a 2000 Expedition with a 5.4L. I put the 8 chamber Spintech muffler on. My Expedition has 4 wheel drive and air ride. The muffler has 2 pipes in from the "X" pipe and I chose two pipes out. It has a a nice deep tone and isn't to loud on the freeway. If you get on it it gets loud. I have not done much driving without the little race trailer I tow but, the mileage during towing went up one mile a gallon. The offline torque seems to have increased to.
