I have a 4.6 5spd and just put in the 40 series True Dual system. All I can tell you is that I love them. They are quite loud when you step on it, and for the first time, it actually sounds the way a truck should at idle. The dudes at the shop where I put them in said that it sounded more like a 5.4 than a 4.6. When I puch it, it turns heads. Mileage has improved. The down side is that I did not put an 'H' (or 'X' pipe) on the system, and I think I've lost some on the low end, but picked it up again once I'm moving (like on the highway). So low end is less, but more horses seems about right. BUT, on the highway, the drone in the cab can be annoying when I'm on a longer trip (shorter highway trips I like the sound) Keep in mind also, that true duals seem to be louder than the SI/DO setups, but are also considerably more expensive.

Hope this helps you out.

defacto, what is a true dual exhaust. what is the difference between that and the regular $60 flowmaster muffle that you can buy, because all i was going to do was buy the muffler and cut my old one off and put the new one on, just a single exhuast, not dual. i was going to do that later down the rode. buy all the pipe and do it all myself. can you help me out witha ll this, the differences. thanks

I got the si/do Flowmaster deltaflow 50 put on my 1999 v6 today. 2 1/2 in 2 1/4 out with 18" tips out the back. You can tell it is there while idling by the rumble but it sounds great when you stomp on it. Its loud enough to turn heads but not get complaints from the neighbors or wake the kids when I leave for work at 5am. My wife loves the sound also which is a big plus. I don't think I lost any power in the low end, I might of even gained a little. There is a gain of high end power, and that great popping sound when you let off the gas.

4RDPWR:
It's pretty simple really; what they do is cut off the pipes before the factory 'y' pipe, thus avoiding a 'bottle neck' into one pipe. My understanding is that this opens up the airflow, more than on a SI/DO setup, due to the lack of the bottle neck through the 'y' pipe. Some say this messes up the backpressure, and hence, the loss of the low end torque, but the cats do most of that work. All you need to do to remedy the loss of the low end is to make sure an 'H' pipe is installed between the 2 pipes (which I stupidly didn't do)to even out the pressure. I hope this helps, and makes sense.

Nope, what you want won't change a thing; just the sound (which won't be that big of a difference anyway.)

The 'low end stuff' is the result of the loss of back pressure, or uneven pressure associated with adding on a system that is too free flowing. It is debatable though, whether or not this happens anyway; the cats are supposed to take care of this, and sometimes I'd swear that mine has, then other times I'd swear it hasn't lost some off the low end.

Nothing sounds better than just a piece of straight pipe . I've tryed everything from Flowmaster to Xcelerator.
