Cool FLOW40, 3" SYS w/ SIDEOUT

Hey all-
just a quick note to inform folks who have
been considering a pipe diameter increase
as well as side pipe-out. I had a Flowmaster
40series thru stock pipe on my 4.6 auto, but
it didn't so that much. Mind also I have a
full K+N FIPK installed (which did wonders!)
Today I modded to 3" pipe cat-back, and a
3" angle cut pipe exiting the Flow at the
front of the rear pass. tire. It looks
quite nice and the SSSSZZZZOUNDDDD!!!!
* good lord! * Sounds like a NASCAR truck now, but actually not that loud until you
stomp it. Then, well... stand the hell back!
I highly reccomend this set-up, and it'll cost an average $200 including the muffler.
Oh- definite low end torque increase, too.

Palerider,
Where did you get your muffler work done? I had been considering getting the Ravin 33, but after reading some posts about bad experiences with them, I've decided to go with Flowmaster.
Thanks in advance.

Hey there! I actually shopped every muffler
shop in San Diego, including Express, Cruisin', Hansens and several ORW referrals.
I kept hearing $400+ w/ the muffler. It's
like they see you drive up in a '01 and assume you're dripping in cash. (w/ my $500
payment, i'm not!). Anyway, I found some
downright honest and fair folks down in
Chula Vista- it's called Eddie's Muffler, and
they do a lot of custom work. They're at the
corner of Broadway and Main (take the Main
street exit off of I-5 south, go east until
you hit Broadway). Have 'em do a 3" cat back
set-up w/ the muffler of your choice (they've
got 'em all) and save yourself all of the
restrictive back tubing over the axle and have it exit at the corner by the rear tire
front. You will love it. I went with a tasteful 4" tip flush with the body, and
people just stare and smile when I burble
on up. Let me know what you do!

Thanks, I'll give them a call in the morning.
I've been getting the same $400+ story. When I lived near Seattle, I had a 3" cat back with Flowmaster installed on my 90 Bronco for $235.
Thanks again.
