Did you notice any difference in the power, and what did you do to the pipe, did you just seal it where the muffler was? Did you leave it 2.25 the whole way back or what did you change about it? I want to do this to my truck, I just wanna talk to somebody who already did it and knows "what IS".
Thanks, main

no offense, but that's noise pollution. Don't get me wrong I like a loud exhaust too, but running intentionally with no muffler is neither really good for the vehicle (won't have enough backpressure) and the noise you get makes you sound like a ricer. If ricer is what your going for then congratulations, all your neighbors will now hate you for your stupid, loud exhaust.

mattbert,
i've run straight pipes for years and never had any problems from it. if you leave the cats alone (where most all the backpressure is on these trucks)you shouldn't do any damage. as far as sounding like a ricer, you're way off there. not even close. Rich.

Yea the "Super Crew" in my signature was a typo. Sorry about that
.
As far as it goes with running no muffler, here is my setup:
1 Pipe off on of the Cats
Y-Pipe coming off that pipe
Then 3" chrome tips on each pipe.
I had all this done by a friend of mine who owns a muffler shop. All he did was weld a piece of straight pipe in place of the muffler. This also added a lot more power than running a muffler!
Also Mudder, with the 4.6 liter it is not very much louder than running an Xcelerator Muffler. Noise pollution is no problem and all my neighbors love the nice rumble it produces. Even had one come over and ask me what I did to my truck to make it sound that good. It also isn't bad for the truck. It added a lot more power that is going to be great when I add my big tires and lift. All in all I am very happy with my setup.

See, the back pressure is what I was worried about, I was thinking that if I left the pipes 2.25 all the way back that it would still have good enough pressure, but I read in a post here somewhere that it causes power loss in the medium range when you cut the mufflers. I don't want that to happen, I just wondered if any of y'all had already cut them and wondered what kind of difference you had in power. I was gonna leave the cats alone and just pull straight off them, it's a Y from the cats all the way back right now, and I just wanted to cut the mufflers and split the Y into duals. The pipe is already duals until about 2 feet from the tip, and I just wanted to seperate them and lose the mufflers. Should I go with an H-pipe or would it be okay just to leave them seperate of each other?

If you window tint is illegal how do you get away with it? Also noticed that you said that no muffler is also illegal. Do you have inspections there? Check out my sig to see what I had done for my exhaust system.

Sorry for all the signature mistakes, im just a dumb redneck.
Pickup Man-
I would just leave them seperate from one another. Don't worry about the back pressure, it isn't a problem at all. I have gained power, not lost.
King James-
Yes, we have inpections around here. You have to find a place that doesn't check tint and you have to put the muffler back on before the inspection.
As far as it goes being illegal, yours would be considered illegal too, due to the noise it puts out. My friend has the same setup on his Chevy
and he just got a ticket last week for too much noise.

Thanks, 2dollarsteak, I will get it cut as soon as possible now. I think that you could probably slip by without putting the muffler back on, as long as you take it easy going in and out of the sticker station, the worst that could happen is you get a rejection sticker until you get it back on. I have never been checked on anything I have ever had for emissions, I just pull in and they test the lights and the horns and pass me nicely, without even looking at anything else. By the way, you have a great looking truck!
