Questions about Y pipe

I have a 98 F150 with the 4.6 and I just bought the cat back, from Magnaflow and the catalytic converters-hi flow too along with the y pipe. My question for those who have instaled this y pipe is how do you do it both the muffler guy and I see no real easy way to do it. Am I missing something or what? Thaks for any help. Jeff

If the 98 is like my 99, it should be straightforward. Does your drivers side exhaust cross over to meet up with the right side after the catalitic coverters? If so (like mine), then you cut out that pipe where the two sides meet. Then you are left with the passenger side after the cats, and the driver side is perpendicular to it. You'll need a 90 degree elbow (2.5" diameter) for the drivers side, then put in the y-pipe. Cut off the reducer at the front of the Magnaflow system and put a 3" pipe between the y-pipe and the remaining Magnaflow pipe, muffler and tail pipes. There is some very good detailed information at another user's web page. Take a look at P Ferlow's site.
