Thumbs up exhaust strap

I just put a Hooker Aero Flow muffler on my truck today when I did the conversion to move the tailpipe to the rear (yes, the dealer actually gave me the parts and let me do it myself when I told him I'd just be cutting the factory muffler and replacing it anyway). The instructions with the muffler said that a regular exhaust clamp wouldn't crimp the in and out nipples and to weld it. A guy at a local speed shop talked me into some exhaust straps like the Dynomax ones that Summit Racing sells. They worked out really great! Took a bit to get the bolts to the 70 foot-lbs or torque that's suggested though. The strap conforms to the pipe and seals the area where the pipe goes into the muffler. They are a bit pricey at $9 a piece. But all in all, I think they are great. Just my .02.

How does that Aerochamber sound? Loud, mellow?? I have been looking into a Dynomax Super Turbo, but the Aerochamber has crossed my mind. Also which configuration did you get, and what kind of warranty is there with that muffler?

The AeroChamber is no Flowmaster like I had on my other '97 with a 4.2L. It sounds really nice around 2000rpm, then sounds like it shuts off when it kicks into OD and the engine goes down to 1600rpm. Can hear it again around highway speed at 65. Haven't heard it outside the truck, don't let the wife drive it much :-)

I got the 2.5" offset inlet/center outlet. It didn't mention anything about a warranty on the muffler.
