Post EXHAUSTLY STUPID

STILL NEED HELP WITH QUESTION, IF I ONLY CHANGE MY FACTORY MUFFLER, IS THAT BETTER? OR SHOULD I CHANGE MUFFLER AND HAVE DUAL PIPES COMING OUT REAR? SO, WHAT IM ASKING IS? HOW WOULD IT SOUND AND WORK IF I ONLY CHANGE MUFFLER AND LEAVE ORIGINAL 1 PIPE COMING OUT BEHIND RIGHT REAR TIRE AS WHEN I BOUGHT IT? OR DO THE DUAL? ......

Thumbs up

Changing your muffler only would help. You can leave your stock tail pipes, as far as I can tell on mine there isn't any restrictions. I guess it all depends on what type of sound you are looking for as well as what kind of performance you wish to attain.

Cool

Hi Stoney

I have a 2001 f150 4.6. When i changed my muffler i went with a 40 series (2 chamber) flow master single in duel out. It`s quiet around town or when criusing but when you get on it- it sounds real good. No matter what you decide to do, anything is better than the stock muffler.
I hope this helps you out.

Larry.

Cool

Any quality HP muffler is an improvement. They all flow at approx. twice the OEM garbage can or more. The factory 2.5" pipe can support up to 300 HP. It will sound better with a single or dual setup (just pick your sound choice in a muffler), and the dual out muffler using a single in will not add noticeable performance; your performance and flow will be dictated by the more forward single pipe (you will never flow more than that; it's your most forward restriction).

I agree. ANYTHING is better than a stock muffler! With my xcelerator it is REALLY loud, but I had all the pipe replaced. I am sure though you can still use the stock pipe, but the duals sure do look a lot better !
