Post What does everyone think about straights?

I have a 4.6L and I was thinking about getting a shop to cut off the muffler completely and just run the pipes with the cats along with dual tips out the back. Does this sounds like a good idea or not? I'm worried about getting a noise ticket or other violation but I still love the sound.

Question

Anyone know if it's legal to have straight pipes, no muffler? I know if you leave the cats alone you'll pass emissions, but will you pass with no muffler? I have had a supertruck for a year now, but want to do something louder. Also is there a lot of low end loss? Thanks

I have just gotten done doing this. I had the shop remove the flowmaster delta 40 and put in a "Y" pipe. I have had no ill effects just a whole lot better sound. Try it if you don't like it just get the muffler welded back in. It is loud but not annoying.

DO IT, I have had that exact same set up for two years, I love it, but make surre that the Y that you get is not too small or your truck will be wickedly slower, trust me IU made that mistake. IT is illegal but what you can do is weld in a 10 dollar glass pack come inspection time
