Proud to be back amoung the fold...It's been a while since I flew the colors.
I have just bought (yesterday) a brand new 2002 F-150 Super Crew 5.4 L, 4x4. So I have some totally Rookie Questions, (I did do a search of the archivies...)
I want to put an exhaust on it... Hear is what I am looking for, I think???
From the Cat Back:
*Looked at the FlowMaster 50 SUV Series
*Looked at the MagnaFlow
*Do Not Want Borla
*Mostly for sound, am looking for a DEEP MELLOW sound. One
that sounds BAD *** on the outside, can be heard on the inside
but MELLOWS at HWY Crusing Speed. (I have to drive it 80
miles round trip on the HWY each day)
*Looking for just the muffler
*What is the stock pipe size (2.25/2.5 ect...)
*Not sure if I want it duel out he back or if I want it duel out
the side like the stock set up
*Should I get it single in and single out, or single in and duel
out
*Want duel tips
Tks for the help, Rookie and all
Peace

SI/DO with the Flowmaster Delta 40 series sounds to me just about how you described.
Mine exits out the back

I put the Magnaflow 15609 kit on my '01 screw after reading advice here. First, I don't know what the Flowmaster sounds like but my pipe is plenty throaty. Quiet throb at a stop light but mellow rumble at takeoff and can hear it in cab at full speed. I like it but it does sound racy and you just want to floor it all the time. I definitely have more torque and power and also put on an AF1 kit around same time. I'm old enough to remember glasspacks on muscle cars in the 60s and that's what it sounds like to me. Good luck.

A few f150's back, I had 97 sc 4x4 5.4L. I had singel in/duel out on her with flowmaster 40, loved it. I had the truck for 2 years with no problems, the man who bought her is still running the same exhuast. I did the lightning thing for awhile, kept her stock. I bought a 02 f150 sc fx4 this pasted summer and after reading some post here I was going to try magnaflow. I got to the shop and was ready to get a magnaflow and they said to stick with the flowmaster for what I wanted (the same your looking for).I thought about it for a few, it came down to go with what you know, got the flowmaster 40, love it. It's single in duel out 2.5" with 3.5" angle cut tips out the back. I got chrome tips but would go with stainless steel tips next time. I don't know what it sounds like at 80mph but it sounds great to 65mph.
